New Menu at the Kawaihae Seafood Bar

The Seafood Bar in Kawaihae has long been a favorite Kohala coast casual dining restaurant.  We stopped by last night to check out the new menu, and I’m happy to report that all my favorites are all still there!

The Oysters Rockefeller is always the first thing I ask about as we are getting seated.  Arrive too late on a busy night, and you’re out of luck!  I’ve tried replicating the recipe at home, to no avail.  But, that’s ok…a good reason to make the drive over to the harbor as often as possible.

Dinner Entrees

Owner/Operator Dave Yurtin says one of his favorite dishes on the new menu is the Seafood Crusted Catch.  From the dinner menu, I can personally recommend the Pupu Steak, the Ginger Steamed Clams, the Braised Teriyaki Short Ribs and the Seafood Pizza (not shown).

Affordable Options

The Seafood Bar has lots of more affordable options too, including daily specials and happy hour pupus.  They recently added Longboard on draft (along with Steinlager, Heineken and Newcastle).  Oh, and dessert?  Selections vary from day to day, but the Kahlua Creme Brulee?  Dangerously good.
